Friends

This is a painting I did for my little cousin's birthday. She turned ten the 4th July and I finished it the day before... So this is her and Rosie, the horse she's riding once a week or so. This is my first try at oil. I used water mixable colours since it dries much faster and because my bedroom isn't ventilated enough for me to use the reel oil paint with linseed and turpentine (smells a lot and very dangerous to use in a room as poorly ventilated as mine).

I had a lot of difficulties doing the sketch because when the horse fitted into the canvas, my cousin didn't and vice versa. So I had to do my cousin a little smaller than on the reference (taken by me). I did an acrylic base so I could see what would be my colours. And those colours were a pain in the ass to do... But all in all I'm quite satisfied with it
